How to turn off Rovo in Jira and Confluence

Rovo is Atlassian’s AI assistant. It now has an Ask Rovo button in Jira and Confluence, a chat panel, and AI buttons in the editor and on issues. If you don’t use it, it’s one more thing competing for space on every page.

Where it shows up

• The Ask Rovo button and Rovo chat panel.
• Atlassian Intelligence buttons that offer to summarize, write or rewrite content.

Can you turn it off in Jira or Confluence?

Only if you’re an organization admin, and only partly. There is no setting for individual users.

For organization admins, Atlassian’s steps are:

1. Open Atlassian Administration and select your organization.
2. Select AI and Rovo, then Access.
3. Select Add app and choose the apps to block.
4. Review your selection and select Block access.

What this doesn’t do:

• It applies to everyone in the organization who uses that app, not just you.
• Some features are shared across Jira apps, including Rovo Search, Chat and Create with Rovo. Atlassian says they stay available as long as any Jira app on the site still has Rovo. To remove those, every Jira app on the site has to be blocked.
• Blocking an app disables all of its current and future AI features, so people who do use them lose them too.
• Content already generated by Rovo stays where it is.

Hide the buttons just for you

DeclutterMe removes the “Ask Rovo” button, Rovo chat and Atlassian Intelligence buttons from Jira and Confluence in your browser. Nothing changes for your colleagues, and you don’t need an admin. Your admins’ announcements and outage notices always stay visible.
